Published: 11 March 2021

El olvido que seremos tells the life of Héctor Abad Gómez, a medical specialist in public health, university professor and human rights defender, who was assassinated in 1987 in Medellín. A heartbreaking story that reflects the violence that hits Colombia.

This film was directed by Fernando Trueba, produced by Caracol Televisión and Dago Garcia Producciones for its launch in 2020. It has a great cast of international and national stature such as Javier Cámara, Aída Morales, Patricia Tamayo, Juan Pablo Urrego, Sebastián Giraldo , Whit Stillman, among others. The locations where the recordings took place were Medellín, Bogotá, Turin and Madrid. A film with a great setting that mixes dramatic situations with moments of joy and manages to make a family portrait of different generations and political convictions, during the constant struggle to safeguard health, education, rights and childhood.

We congratulate all those who made this film possible, and we are proud to have been a small but important part of this project. At ATmedios, we carry out the Spanish subtitling of the trailer, the preparation of the list of dialogues, the Spanish translation of the dialogues in Italian and English, the subtitling with a description of sounds for the deaf, closed caption in Spanish, and the subtitling of the entire film in English and Portuguese.

Subtitling plays an important role for any audiovisual production because it increases the audience it reaches, since it makes it accessible to people who speak other languages and also to the deaf or hearing-impaired community.

ATmedios offers the subtitling service in several languages, although the most requested are Spanish, English, Portuguese and French. The subtitling process for a movie takes a period of 3 to 5 days which includes visualization and revision of the work, transcription, translation and adaptation of the dialogues for later synchronization and placement of the sentences in the exact second and with the correct duration. Finally, the text are inserted on the video. All of the above, together with a strict quality control that guarantees excellent spelling and the proper use of terms according to the region or country of origin and the target language, allow the viewer to fully access the content while maintaining the same original intentions of the film.
